Welcome.  I’m an ACLS New Faculty Fellow in the English Department at UCSB for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years. At UCSB, I am teaching part-time as I complete my first book manuscript, “Human Programming: Automatism and American Exceptionalism.”  I specialize in twentieth-century and contemporary American literature and film, science and technology studies, and the digital humanities.  My spring-quarter course at UCSB marks the beginning of my second book project, which will examine the increasing prominence of network forms in contemporary U.S. fiction and culture.

I also recently co-organized the UCSB Transcriptions Center’s “Mediating the Nonhuman” colloquium on March 15th and 16th, along with the 6th annual DH Research Slam, UCSB’s premier digital humanities event. To view the schedule, please see our page at the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center.
